What Is the Main Street Improvement Project?
The Main Street Improvement Project is a major initiative designed to upgrade and revitalize our historic downtown corridor. Over the next 18 months, we’ll be improving sidewalks, enhancing lighting, adding new public spaces, and preserving the unique character that makes Main Street a hub for local business and community gatherings. By the end of this project, we aim to create a more vibrant, welcoming Main Street for everyone who lives, works, and visits here.
What to Expect
We know you’re eager to see the new and improved Main Street. First, though, we’ll all need to navigate around 18 months of construction. Our team is doing everything possible to minimize disruptions and keep downtown accessible. Here’s what you can look forward to:
Phased Construction: We’ll focus on one intersection or block at a time before moving on to the next area.
Main Street Will Stay Open: We plan to keep at least one lane open whenever possible so you can still drive through downtown.
Advance Notice of Closures: If a lane or road closure is necessary, we’ll give you a heads-up. Closures will be limited to the active work zone.
Businesses Stay Accessible: You’ll still be able to reach your favorite downtown shops and restaurants on foot throughout the project.
Utilities Stay On: Essential services like power and water are expected to remain on during construction.
